"Magnet4Europe transfers, modifies, scales up, and evaluates the evidence-based Magnet model of organizational redesign of clinical health care work environments in 6 European countries."
Setting the Scene
In 2013, the EU launched ist Joint Action on Mental Health and Wellbeing to champion mental health as a European public health priority and to develop tools to support Member States in improving conditions for the prevention, diagnosis and care of mental disorders in their countries.
Over 23 million Europeans work in health care. Doctors and nurses are not immune to burnout, which is a combination of exhaustion, cynicism and perceived inefficacy resulting from long-term job stress. In fact, workers in the healthcare sector experience burnout much more frequently than workers in other professions. In line with the European Framework, Magnet4Europe aims to improve mental health and wellbeing among health professionals and patient safety in more than 60 hospitals in six European countries (Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and United Kingdom). Using an innovative multi-methodological approach, hospitals will receive a full-blown redesign of their workplaces – supported by one to one twinning with an experienced Magnet recognized hospital and an annual learning collaborative. |
